Are You Ready to Defend Your Decision?
What: Livestock judging teaches 4-H members livestock evaluation skills for beef, goat, sheep, and swine. Additionally, members will learn how to defend their placings through oral reasons.
Who: Any 4-H member can participate regardless of what projects they are taking. Senior members (ages 14-18) and junior members (ages 8-13) may judge in the state contest. Only senior members are eligible to participate in regional or national contests.
When: Practice starts in June and is held until the state contest in July. Members will participate in other contests as well. Practice is usually held once a week.
Awards: Individual honors for both Junior and Senior members are given at each county judging contest.
