Artistic Clothing

Are you into creating a clothing item that is special and unique? Do you like to take an item that you have bought and make it your own by creating a design on it? Then this is the project for you. In this project you will have the opportunity to create a clothing item that has your very own touch. You are encouraged to experiment with colors, textures, fabrics and yarns, and turn your ideas and designs into unique garments!

This project is for Juniors, Intermediates and Seniors.

Youth will learn how to express their individualism and imagination by creating a one-of-a kind garment.

Members will accomplish the following learning experiences:

  • Experiment with a variety of textile crafts
  • Use different ideas and tools to create or modify a design
  • Decorate a garment of your choice, such as a t-shirt, pants, jacket, blouse/skirt, etc.

Creative Sewing - Unit 5

This unit is for ages 8-18. In this project, you will create fun sewing projects for gifts, special occasions or a home-based business.

Creativity is the Key!

  • Select a project in which you have a special interest or need.
  • Sew the majority of or all of the exhibit project.
  • Learn new skills by setting more advanced goals for yourself.

Create Your Own - Unit 7

This unit is for members ages 11-18.

In this project , you will explore a topic that is of interest to you.  You may choose to learn about lace, design your own pattern, do a study on historic costumes, learn about advertisements and their impact on consumer choices, or explore careers in textiles and clothing -- whatever your interest may be.

Buymanship - Unit 1

This unit is for members ages 11-18.

In this project, you will learn about clothing styles and colors that flatter your body type.

  • Understand the components of fashion including design, fabric, and color.
  • Understand the importance of clothing care and construction.
  • Choose clothes to coordinate with existing wardrobe.
